Colchester, Britain's oldest recorded market town, which dates back around 2,000 years is home to some of the oldest public houses and hotels in the country dating back to the 14th century. Sadly, over the last 2 decades the number of pubs in Colchester has dwindled by nearly half. Currently, the town has some 40 pubs, several of whom serve real ales and appear in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. These pubs continue to thrive in this modern town, which is steeped in cultural history. 

Just Because...Flowers florist based in Colchester, prides itself on creating high quality and visually striking flower arrangements for Colchester pubs, restaurants and hotels. Established in 2006 by young entrepreneur Emma Garrad at just 24, Emma had previously worked and trained for 7 years as a florist for two well respected London florists. Just Because...Flowers is a member of the British Florist Association and abides by the BFA Code of Practice. In addition to having a retail shop in North Station Road, this florist also has a growing online presence following the launch of Florist2U.co.uk and is fast becoming one of the towns fastest growing indendent florists.

One of this florists oldest customers is The Bricklayers pub in Bergholt Road, near Colchester North Station. The Bricklayers, is a large but inviting public house and as you enter the pub from the Mile End entrance, you cannot fail to notice the fantastic flowers sitting on the main bar, which changes weekly and is quite a focal point of the pub. This pub offers an extensive range of real ales and has been awarded several CAMRA awards over the years, most recently winning the local CAMRA Committee Award 2008. Like most good pubs in the town, they offer some great British home cooked food available during weekday lunchtimes and on a Sunday.
